For homework, children were asked to write the next chapter to a comic strip prompt. The class tried hard to include interesting adjectives in their work. The two examples are from Amber and Leah. In year six we do lots of writing. So far this year we have covered: biographies, autobiographies, newspaper articles, fact files, horror stories and fantasy stories. To celebrate how much we have improved so far, we have created a display with some of our wonderful pieces of writing. Today two men from Brandon table tennis club came to our school to talk to us about the fun you can have playing table tennis. We also managed to play table tennis, which was brilliant! In our literacy lessons we have been looking at fictional writing. As Halloween has just been, we decided to write a horror story. We have been trying really hard to use better vocabulary, and have been using 'magpie books' to help us with that. Have a read through some of our stories. What do you think? Every year on the 11th day, at the 11th hour of the 11th month, millions of people take two minutes of silence to remember people who were killed, injured and effected in wats. The reason why we remember at this time is because in 1918 WW1 ended. We wear poppies as we are REMEMBERING those people who died for their country. Poppies are used because these are the flowers that grew on the battlefields! Don't forget to remember the British soldiers! Today we have been raising money for Children in Need. Children came to school in yellow/spots and messy hair, or a combination of all three! Don't they look fabulous?
We have raised an amazing amount of £231, which will be donated to the charity. Thank you for your kind donations! |
