We have had some exciting news this week! Both Durham cathedral and Beamish have responded to our leaflets. Beamish want to write an article about us, and Durham cathedral want to display our work! Well done, so proud of you!
This week we have a picture prompt. I want you to look really closely at it and get those imaginations working. What can you see and what do they mean? This about your adventurous vocabulary and powerful punctuation!
This week we are going to be looking at persuasive arguments. We have started the week off by looking at persuasive sentence openers. We used these to argue about which mug was the best! Have a look and see if you can identify the persuasive sentence openers. As you know we have been working on persuasion this week. Everyone has worked so hard, and improved their writing! I know Mrs Hodgson is going to be excited to see you in the morning, to move your cars around the track! They are so good, that I have sent them to the Metrocentre, Durham Cathedral and Beamish, so hopefully they let us know what they think. Below are examples of some of the leaflets, let us know what you think!![]()

Today we have been thinking about writing our own persuasive leaflets. We chose a local attraction in the North East, and used the laptops to research it. We then held a radio show, to persuade listeners to visit the local attractions. This is group 2. They tried hard to develop their expression, to try and engage their audience. This is group one. They worked really hard, remembering their persuasive leaflets from their maps! Our genre in literacy this week is persuasion. We have looked at a variety of texts, and produced our own persuasive leaflet, selling the school as a weekend activity base! To understand persuasive techniques, we have held telephone conversations (one person was a local resident, while the other was the persuasive head teacher). We also made persuasive recommendations about visiting a farm, using boastful language and persuasive sentence openers! Happy New Year everyone! This term is extremely important, and we need to continue with the hard work. We also have lots of exciting things to look forward to! We have taken part in Turkish dancing this week, which was really fun! |
