This week year 6 have visited the Lake District, to take part in an outdoor pursuits activity week. Brandon joined forces with Tanfield Lea primary school, and spent the week doing lots of challenging and fun activities. Take a look through our photographs to see what we got up to.
On day one we were separated into 5 teams, with around 10 people in each team. Our first activity was the jog and dip. We all got very wet!
After that one of the teams went caving, some of us got particularly muddy! The other team took part in team building exercises.
On day two, the teams got their equipment for the day. One of the teams went rock climbing and Ghyll scrambling (climbing up a waterfall). The other team went for a long walk up a large hill. They also got the steamer across Lake Ullswater.
On Wednesday, Team Arkess took part in some orienteering and caving. Everyone tried their best, and managed to squeeze through some very tiny tunnels. After that we went canoeing, where some of us had to change positions and stand up in the canoes.
On our final full day team Arkess climbed Place Fell which stood around 600m above sea level! They were outstanding all the way to the top, and were the only team that managed to get to the top. The other team went canoeing in the morning, and took part in bush craft activities. They had fun building their own shelters. Then to finish off, all of the teams roasted marshmallows around a campfire, and sang lots of songs.
Year 6 have had an amazing week. We have made lots of new friends, tried lots of fantastic activities and have seen some amazing views. Which are your favourite pictures?
I had a really good and amazing time. I really want to go there again. I carnt wait to see my new friends again :)

It was an awsome experience, so I'd love to give all of the teachers from Brandon and Tanfieild, as well as all of the Howtown staff, a great big thank you! THANK YOU!
P.S I can't believe that we climbed right to the top of Place Fell, it was very windy which made the day even more exiting.

Although frequently asked to take a long walk up a large hill, I am afraid that I do not tackle the event with as much enthusiasm as the children have!
Some really fantastic photos. It's great for the parents to be able to view them whilst listening to the stories over and over and over again!

Beth and the other children looked like they were having lots of fun when I saw the photos and I'm glad that Beth enjoyed the experience. It was lovely to hear all about what they got up to and I enjoyed listening to Beth.
