This week, our 100WC has been slightly different. We have decided to write about the topic of Christmas, using any genre. Some of us decided to write poems, while others did recounts and descriptions. We have sent them off to be looked at, and we might even be lucky enough to have them published!
As I woke up on Christmas day, I felt a shock of excitement run through my body! I quickly jumped up and shouted to my parents, “Wake up it’s Christmas day!”
We all slowly walked down the stairs into the darkness and then the magic began! Presents, of different shapes and sizes, were heaped up on the couch like a mountain.
“Wow!” I shouted, as I eagerly started to open them. I was filled with joy. Although I was thinking of all of my great presents, I couldn’t help thinking about the children in the world who weren’t as lucky as me!

A Christmas poem
Can you hear the bells ring?
Can you hear the choir sing?
Presents stacked under the tree,
Every child filled with glee!
Put out milk and mince pies,
And reindeer food that twinkles like the night skies.
Get all tucked up in bed,
Then lay down and rest your sleep head.
Children wake up, ready to have fun,
It was then they knew that Christmas had begun!
They looked at all the presents; lay out on the floor,
They couldn’t believe what they saw.
Christmas is about gifts and present too,
But all you really need is your family and you!

After dinner I get so excited, even though I know I still have quite a wait! I like everything so organised! The order is: bath, pyjamas, supper, TV and bed at 7.30ish. Only thing is I can’t sleep!
My mam hangs stockings on our doors. I listen eagerly and always try to hear something. However, I never ever have!
The stars always seem so bright in the sky, I often wonder why? Eventually I start to doze, however I keep waking up checking the time!
Next thing I know everyone is shouting, “He’s been, He’s been.” (Santa Claus of course!)

I love Christmas
I absolutely love Christmas. The sound of children singing classic Christmas carols, echoes through the street. Christmas decorations light up, making the street glow as bright as starts. The smell of roast potatoes fills the air with a beautiful smell. The street is covered in a think layer of glistening crystal-white snow. I love the sensation of opening your Christmas presents on Christmas morning. You want to know what you’ve got, but Christmas isn’t about presents. Christmas is about spending precious time with your family.

Christmas
On Christmas morning the smell of turkey and roast potatoes fills the air. I tear through the carefully wrapped presents, to find the ones I’ve been hoping for! I play with my brilliant toys, until dinner is ready. My mam has prepared a beautiful meal that we all enjoy. After the dishes are cleaned, we all settle down to a Christmas movie. Sadly, sometimes I think about the unfortunate children who have had no meal or received any gifts. It makes me appreciate what I have. As Christmas draws to an end, I settle down and go to sleep.

The mysterious man in red!
It was a cold night, snow blizzards were preparing to fall. One night a little girl, called Kayla, was suffering from the blizzards. She thought of the warm fires and hot chocolate melting in her mouth. Suddenly a spark appeared in the navy sky! Bells jingled. A giant was standing in front of Kayla. She was scared! He put his large hand in his red glittering bag, and picked something out for her. Kayla’s hand was shaking, while she was receiving her gift! As she opened it, her heart was racing. Then he disappeared! Just then a “Ho, Ho, Ho” could be heard.

A Christmas Day acrostic poem
Children excited for Christmas day,
Happy little faces smiling away,
Red wrapping paper covers the living room floor,
In comes the family through the front door!
Sharing their gifts and memories too,
Turkey and all the trimmings for me and for you.
Music and laughter filling the room,
A slightly drunk granny sings out of tune!
Snow outside the window falling fast,
Dad shouts, “Deserts ready.” We shout, “at last!”
A lovely Christmas pudding with gooey brandy sauce,
Yum yum, Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all of course!

That time of year again
Christmas is a time of year where everyone in the world receives gifts. Christians celebrate this time because it was when Jesus was born. At Christmas time, people put up their decorations such as: Christmas trees, lights and accessories for trees. Children open advent calendars, which have delicious chocolate behind mini doors. The advent calendar normally counts down the days until Christmas eve. It usually snows as Christmas, children and adults go sledging on hills. People have to go shopping to buy presents to five to their friends and family! At Christmas most families will have a delicious Christmas meal!

Christmas
We celebrate Christmas because it is the birth of Jesus. The day starts with the giving of presents. While the children play, the adults prepare the Christmas dinner with crunchy roast potatoes, lots of vegetables and big Yorkshire puddings.
The main part of the Christmas dinner is usually a gigantic turkey. The whole family sits down together to eat this big feast. After dinner the children go back to play, while the adults clean up that lovely scrumptious dinner.
Some people may then go and visit other relatives, others may relax at home and enjoy the gifts they have received.

I love Christmas!
I love Christmas me, the carols and the lot.
I try and examine my boxes to see what I have got.
The Christmas dinner is delicious,
I always ask for more.
Then here comes Santa Claus knocking at my door.
He always asks for me but I never remember why,
Then I remember the Secret Santa Text (which I was forced to reply).
At the end of the day I get into bed,
With fairies and sugar plums dancing in my head.
Christmas is the best time of year,
I could never ask for more.
Especially with Santa knocking at your door!

Christmas time
It was snowing heavily outside. Trees swayed like dancers performing, the slippery, icy paths glittered with pride. The smell of hot coco filled the bitter air with warmth and joyfulness. Sparkling lights lit the paths perfectly. The wind kissed the faces of smiling children as they skipped around. Bells shaking, singers dancing, everyone is elated at Christmas time!
