This week, our 100WC has been slightly different. We have decided to write about the topic of Christmas, using any genre. Some of us decided to write poems, while others did recounts and descriptions. We have sent them off to be looked at, and we might even be lucky enough to have them published!Today we have had the opportunity of working with teachers from other countries. 6DC worked with two teachers from Spain. Patricia and Pablo showed us how to make 3D stars and we tasted fruit sangria! It was delicious! 6CS worked with a teacher, who was called Alexandria, from Sweden. She told us about Sweden, and shared with some us some of her Christmas traditions. We then made heart shaped baskets, which we placed candy canes in. Today, 6DC have been really busy in literacy. We are trying to be more creative with our work, so we have adopted a new style of writing. This type of writing is known as Talk for Writing, created by Pie Corbett. Here are some examples of our work at the imitation stage, including story maps, actions for connectives and retells! Let us know how you think we have got on, remember this is our first time doing this! This week, the prompt is based around the Musomic comic. Children had to write the next chapter of the story. When commenting on a piece of writing, can you either quote the number or name of the person who it belongs to. The writing is in the following order:
1. Ryan T 2. Ryan 3. Emilia 4. Beth 5. Jamie 6. Molly P 7. Harry P 8. Jonathon 9. Sophie 10. Holly T 11. Gina 12. Alicia 13. Olivia For homework, children were asked to write the next chapter to a comic strip prompt. The class tried hard to include interesting adjectives in their work. The two examples are from Amber and Leah. In year six we do lots of writing. So far this year we have covered: biographies, autobiographies, newspaper articles, fact files, horror stories and fantasy stories. To celebrate how much we have improved so far, we have created a display with some of our wonderful pieces of writing. Today two men from Brandon table tennis club came to our school to talk to us about the fun you can have playing table tennis. We also managed to play table tennis, which was brilliant! |
